A thirty-year-old woman, Miss Paula Lawrence has dragged Anietie Ekong,
the media aide to Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio
before a federal high court, for allegedly drugging her drink, sleeping
her while under the influence of the drugged drinks and circulating her
Nood pictures. She is seeking N100m as damages for the emotional,
psychological, reputational pain and torture she had been caused as a
result of the harassment. In suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/121/2016, Paula
accuses Ekong of having carnal knowlege of her without her consent.
Miss
Paula, through her counsel, Mr. Oseini Bamigbaiye, in the suit, sought
court restraint Ekong from further harassment, threatening and invasion
of the privacy of his client and an order compelling him to tender an
unreserved and written apologies on all the social media platforms
through which he defamed her.
According to Paula, a graduate of
Theatre Arts from University of Uyo, Akpabio’s aide drugged and had sex
with her, took her Nood pictures,and then circulated them on the social
media after she met him in a hotel in Uyo, Akwa-Ibom state. Paula said
she met Ekong sometime in 2014, during the commissioning of the
international stadium in Uyo where they exchanged numbers.
According
to her, they both met at an hotel in Uyo, where her Nood picture was
taken and circulated on social media after abusing her sexually.
She alleged
:
“In the room, he brought out the bottle of red wine from the luggage in
his wardrobe. At that time, I was pressed and had to use the toilet.
Before I came back, he had poured the wine in the glass. “ I drank from
my glass of wine, while he drank from his. When I wanted to drink from
his glass of wine, he refused me, saying I should drink from mine.
Shortly after drinking I started feeling dizzy and drunk. He made love
to me and I slept off till morning. I did not know that while I was
drunk, he took Nood picture of me with his cell phone camera”
.
Efforts to reach Ekong to comment on the allegation failed to yield results as his mobile phone rang many times unanswered
